HOUSE | AJUDA

In a neighborhood of low-rise buildings, the project was designed with careful integration into the local context.

At first glance from the street and the neighborhood, the house reveals itself as a simple, archetypal volume, with a Portuguese tile roof and characteristic lioz stone-framed windows, establishing a sense of scale with the surroundings.

This volume is adjacent to another, which presents itself to the street as a completely blind wall, hiding the house’s social and more formal spaces that open entirely onto the west-facing garden.

It is at the junction between the two volumes that the horizontal distribution of the house develops, around the courtyard that brings light to the center of the house.

Towards the interior of the block, marked by somewhat disorganized constructions and occupations, the house opens with large openings, creating a very close relationship with the outside. Taking advantage of the existing Jacaranda tree that shapes the views and offers the spaces the necessary privacy with a close relationship to the tree canopy.
